The NTF legal expenses insurance is designed to meet the business needs of an NTF member including representation at BHA disciplinary matters and cover for employment disputes, subject to the policy terms being met. The care custody and control insurance is not included. If you are an employed trainer you need to be aware that the insurance would not cover any employment dispute you may have with your own employer and you should consider having other cover in place, perhaps through your household insurance or a stand alone insurance.

Members of the NTF are able to take advantage of assistance on legal matters and insurance for legal fees if the process has been followed as advised by the qualified legal team. Members are reminded that a condition of the insurance cover is that a claim is reported to the insurers immediately after the NTF member first becomes aware of the circumstances which could give rise to a claim. Members who relinquish their licence will have legal expenses cover for matters arising whilst a member provided claims are made within 3 months of relinquishing their licence or the end of the policy year, whichever is shorter, subject to the policy terms and conditions. This only applies to claims made after 1st January 2024.
