RMG and NTF agree new collaborative partnership

Racecourse Media Group (RMG) and the National Trainers Federation (NTF), who represent and promote the interests of British racehorse trainers, have agreed a new two-year partnership to support trainers and help further grow the sport of horse racing.

The deal sees RMG commit to a range of support and integration with the NTF, from helping produce content for play-out on Racing TV’s (RTV) broadcast and digital channels, to an annual contribution to cover the NTF’s legal expenses insurance.

There is a specific commitment to help raise the profile of smaller yards through increased TV exposure, while NTF members can access footage for use on their own channels.

Nick Mills, CEO of Racecourse Media Group, said: “It’s great to be building a closer working relationship with the NTF. We share several common goals, and this new two-year-deal will be mutually beneficial as well as good for racing as a whole. We look forward to working closely with Paul [Johnson] and would welcome NTF members from across the UK to get in touch with their thoughts and ideas for content to broadcast across our platforms.”

Nick Alexander, NTF President, said: “This is brilliant news for the sport and for NTF members. We have seen this year that we can achieve more as a sport when we are able to work collectively and I hope that this will be another example of this.  The NTF will be communicating more to members on the specific broadcasting initiatives that will come out of this collaboration in the coming days and I would encourage trainers to get behind them when we do.”

Paul Johnson, Chief Executive of the NTF, said: “We see this agreement with RMG as a hugely positive step.  We hope that this will provide access to the production of content from trainers’ businesses that consumers of the sport will find really engaging and insightful.  At the same time, the financial support that this will provide to mitigate the cost of the trainers’ legal expenses insurance scheme will help all trainers. One of the underlying aims of the collaboration is to do more to support small training businesses, a need that cannot be underestimated at a time when many are under increasing pressure.”

The collaboration includes:

  • RMG’s support of the NTF legal expenses Insurance scheme

  • RTV helping produce content which will prove newsworthy and beneficial to NTF members, and can be published on RTV and members’ platforms. The aim is to include:

    • creating of behind-the-scenes content

    • more day-to-day interviews with members, including smaller trainers

    • RTV acting as a media partner to help members with news, open days, notices

    • assisting NTF with on-course filming for its own channels

  • Cross promotion of offers and news on NTF and RTV platforms

  • Regular strategic meetings between RMG and NTF to develop relationship

NTF members should email ntf@racecoursemediagroup.com with any ideas on potential content for play-out on Racing TV.
